Hochpustertal / Alta Val Pusteria , the Dolomites, the Italian Alps In this part of the Dolomites, far from civilization and hectic life so typical for other larger resorts in the Dolomites, you can enjoy quiet home atmosphere. There used to be a pilgrimage road to Rome around the lake of Lago di Dobbiaco; now it is a paradise for cross-country skiers with 200 km of groomed tracks. Pustertal Marathon regularly takes place here. The ski resort situated around the spa town of Tobblach/Dobbiacoje consists of several, rather small areas quite distant from each other, none of them providing skiers with a large number of runs. Easy or intermediate runs are available here, that is why it is especially suitable for active family holidays. Out of these areas Helm/Monte Elmo is the largest. It offers not demanding slopes, above all red runs, also suitable for carving. More experienced skiers will certainly make use of black run in Rotwand or will go to the neighbouring Cortina d´Ampezzo ski resort, because the Dolomiti Superskipass enables you to ski even here. Snowboard fans will not be offered such facilities as in the surrounding resorts, just a halfpipe in Helm.
