Bormio (1225m - 3017m)

Bormio , the Livigno massif, the Italian Alps Bormio, the famous, a bit snobbish ski resort, is situated in the very south of Lombardy at the end of the Valtellina Valley. It is here where the Valtelline wine, also well-known and popular in the Czech Republic, is grown. The World Championships in downhill skiing regularly take place here. On the northwestern slopes of the Cima Bianca mountain top (3,012 m) you can find runs for all levels – relaxing skiing on gentle slopes in the upper parts, skiing on steep slopes at 2,600 m of altitude or Bimbi al Sole racing trail for carving fans – you have lots of possibilities of their combinations, just choose according to your degree of proficiency. Santa Caterina Valfurva, the smaller but more sports-orientated ski resort, is Deborah Compagnonni´s birthplace, the famous Italian skier. Passo Stelvia, the summer glacier ski resort, is only 20 km from Bormio and you can get there from here; even though it is longer than from Trafoi, it is much more comfortable. The historical centre of ancient Bormio can boast about paved narrow lanes and palaces. It would be a pity if you did not visit its thermal spa during your stay. Although an entrance fee is higher than usual, the relaxing experience is definitely worth trying.
