Westallgäu (631m - 1833m)

Westallgäu , the Allgäu Alps, Germany Oberbayern, the southwest part of Bavaria, is dominated by mighty Alp massifs. It is situated at the foot of the highest mountain Hoch Grat (1,833 m) from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Bodam Lake, the Voralberg Alps in Switzerland and vast Bavarian – Svabian highlands. Undulating countryside at the foot of the mountain is especially popular with cross-country skiers or recreational winter sportsmen. However, slopes on the top offer the best ski possibilities; moreover aroud the small village of Steibis you can also find very difficult runs. Advanced skiers in particular like skiing on Waldkar and on the international FIS downhill on the north facing part of Hoch Grat with terrains suitable for experts only. In many parts of the resort you can make use of special courses in snowboarding or carving. Westallgäu ski resort provides amazing ski possibilities for all winter sports fans. Winter holiday means relaxation as well and that is why some tourists come here to get medical treatment. In Oberstafen it is possible to undergo slimming courses, named after Johann Schrott, their popularizer. These cures are recommended to people with high blood pressure or those who suffer intestinal or stomach troubles and rheumatism.
