Ostallgäu (796m - 1880m)

Ostallgäu , the Allgäu Alps, Germany Not only tourists nowadays, but also German kings in the past were enchanted by this countryside rich in contrasts situated in the north of the Alps. Glacial mountains and lakes are to be found here next to each other together with lots of small towns and villages. This is also the place where winter sports enthusiasts experience their unforgettalbe winter holiday. It happens very rarely that modern culture would live in harmony with nature as in here. At the foot of the Ammergauer and Allgäu Alps you can see the varied countryside full of moraines and smaller as well as bigger lakes. Villages from Traugauch in the east up to Nesselvang in the west are situated at the foot at the mountains forming a semicircle, but unfortunately not a compact ski area. There are about 60 km of runs available, a snowpark, a funpark and a boardercross. Cross-country fans will enjoy their skiing fun here even more than downhill skiers. There are more than 250 km of interconnected well-groomed cross-country tracks.
