Villard-de-Lans, Autrans, Lans-en-Vercors , the Dauphiné Alps, France This resort south to Grenoble is a magnet for cross-country skiers. Correncon and Bois Barbu are the two gateways to a paradise for the Nordic sports around Villard-de-Lans. Most of the trails leading from L´Aigle reach Lans-en-Vercors. Sanitary facilities, ski rentals and information service for both classic and skate skiing trails can be found in the center of the Nordic skiing in Autrans. Owing to its excellent snow conditions, Villard-de-Lans was declared the luge center for the 10th Winter Olympic Games in Grenoble in 1968 together with Autrans being the cross-country skiing center. In spite of its narrow profile, the character of de Lagnes mountains is convenient for alpine skiing, too. Winter holiday in this resort is manifold mainly due to the ski area in Villard-de-Lans where beginners can meet professionals. Apart from the racing trails for experienced skiers, there are several milder runs and one slope for beginners located between 1,400 and 1,800 m. There are relatively many opportunities for snowboarders on a halfpipe and a boardercross trail, however, there is no purpose-built park. The usual range of aprés-ski is complemented by a Film Festival for children and an Adventure Films Festival or by hot-air balloons flights.
